# Custom Attributes for Chatbot (add-on feature)

Custom attributes can store customers' replies or personal data collected through API integration or customers' own input. This helps support your CRM system and gives you a better understanding of your customers.

Make sure to create the custom attribute on [this page](https://console.omnichat.ai/custom-attribute) before using it in chatbots. For a complete instruction, please refer to [this tutorial](https://en-docs.omnichat.ai/features/social-cdp/custom-attribute-cdp-subscription-plan-only).

### Chatbot Settings

Custom attributes can be collected by storing customer replies from chatbot question flows. This data helps you manage customers' personal details and preferences more effectively, and later run relevant marketing campaigns that better target your audience based on customer information.

To save a Custom Attribute in a card, you might need to fill in the following fields:

* Key: The name of the custom field
* Value: The value to be stored

The Value can be saved in different formats, as shown below:

* Text
* Number
* Date
* Date & Time
* Yes / No

We'll show you how to set custom attributes in applicable cards on WhatsApp, LINE and Facebook. You'll also see examples of how these attributes are collected in Omnichat console.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Important Notes When Using This Feature:**

* If the customer enters new data, it will replace the previously saved information.
* If the value entered by the customer doesn't match the required format, it won't be saved. For example, the supported formats for birthday are YYYY/MM/DD and YYYY-MM-DD. If a customer enters 2020\_01\_01, the attribute will not be saved.
  {% endhint %}
